R. FEDERER/A. Corretja 7-5, 6-2

ROGER FEDERER Transcript of press conference

Q: Was that the first time you've been mooned on court?

A: Mooned?

Q: That's what they call it when someone pulls down your shorts and shows their behind.

A: It's not the first time; in practice it happens all the time.

Q: Seems like you suddenly found your game there late in the first set. What happened?

A: Well, I started to play better and definitely moved better, started to feel around with the conditions and it was important to react because every time this week I've started slow, against Johansson, Agassi and also again today against Corretja so it was important to get back in that first set and I'm happy I came back and played well afterwards.

Q: Does this give you a little bit of confidence going into next week, to be able to turn it around?

A: Yeah, especially in the run I had, being 5-2 down and leading afterwards - 4-0, I think it was - that was a good run I had and I don't overjudge all these matches because when it comes to the Australia Open it's the best of five matches again and it's a different story, it's more nerves involved, but still I felt like I've played my best match today and I had the best rhythm in the practice. My rhythm has been better than here at Kooyong but today I could show a little bit that actually the rhythm was there.

Q: Do you know that you have been voted Player of the Year by the International Tennis Writers Association.

A: I heard, yeah. Thank you. That's nice. I've got plenty of awards and each of them is important to me, each of them means something. This is nice too. I don't know, maybe somebody can really explain to me what it really means but it's nice to get all these awards.
