Oct 22, 2004 from Roger Federer Official Site:
Basel - Just in time for the start of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors in Basel, the Official Roger Federer Calendar 2005 is now on sale. In order to meet demand, with
record advance orders from more than 40 different countries, some 4,500
copies of the calendar have been produced -- an increase of 50% on last
year.
Roger Federer has selected 13 pictures that capture the essence
of the enthralling and hugely successful year 2004, up to and including his
victory in the Thailand Open in Bangkok. All proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go to
the Roger Federer Foundation.
In 13 spectacular pictures, the calendar aims to capture not only the
emotional highlights of the current tennis year but also the trademark style and
elegance of Roger Federer's game. It's something that is very close to Roger
Federer's heart: "I do the calendar for my fans around the world. It means a lot to
me to be able to share my emotions -- and the sporting highs and lows of 2004 --
with them in this way."
For the first time ever, this year there will also be a special limited edition of the
calendar of only 307 copies. The slightly unusual figure of 307 represents one copy
for every victory since Roger Federer's debut on the ATP Tour. This special edition
features a complete list of every match that Roger Federer has won -- including the
tournament and location, round, opponent and result -- from his very first victory in
Toulouse back in 1998 right through to his most recent title in Bangkok at the start
of October.
The Official Roger Federer Calendar 2005 costs CHF 29 or EUR 20 and is available to
order or buy online at www.rogerfederer.com, from 40 or so bookstores in
Switzerland, selected bookstores in Germany and Austria, from the US online
retailer www.tenniswarehouse.com and at the Davidoff Swiss Indoors from 23 to
31 October.
Oct 20, 2004 from Maurice Lacroix Official Site:
On October 20, Roger Federer paid a visit to the watchmaker’s facilities at Saignelégier in Switzerland’s Jura mountains. Neither cold nor rain could keep the many children of Saignelégier from waiting for their hero in front of the gates to Maurice Lacroix workshops. Word that Federer was coming to Saignelégier this afternoon had raced around the village. And because Federer is an
important role model for children, all of those waiting received an autograph from him.
Federer requested this visit to Maurice Lacroix in order to understand his new sponsor better.
He wanted an opportunity to learn more about the traditional art of watchmaking as well as the
manufacture of those watches which he is wearing since few months. After his highly successful
and enthusiastic appearances at Maurice Lacroix events in Gstaad, New York and Bangkok, the
visit to the Maurice Lacroix workshops was a further example of how serious this young man
from Basel takes his sponsor’s involvement.
After a tour of the various watch manufacturing stations – from the development department to
the components inspection for the individual parts, the assembly of the mechanical movements
and complications, the setting of the hands, encasing of the watch movement and testing for
water-resistance and accuracy – the brand’s ambassador was presented the first watch models
launched under his name this fall. The Roger Federer Special Editions of the Masterpiece
Croneo COSC, Pontos Small Seconds and Miros Chronograph are sporty, elegant watches which
stand for the highest precision and aesthetics, the same as the game of the men’s number 1
tennis player.
October 2004 from Maurice Lacroix Official Site:
Highest precision is what is distinctive about Swiss tennis star’s Roger Federer’s play. Since June 1, 2004, the current No. 1 in men’s tennis has represented Maurice Lacroix internationally as its official ambassador and is being honoured this fall by the launch of a watch that also fulfils the highest requirements for precision, the Roger Federer Chronometer: Masterpiece Croneo COSC.
Also, the Swiss watchmaker is launching its first Roger Federer watch models. The eye-catching special editions of the Pontos Small Seconds and the Miros Chronograph stand out with their puristic elegance and sporty precision – two aspects that unite these watches superbly with the ability of the tennis star.
